Jason Whitton: What's New!

Hey Peeps--

So, I've been working on my second
CD. I'm lucky enough to be recording some of it at my buddy Jon Mattox's studio, Bright Orange. The guy knows what he's doing. Check him out on MySpace.

It's been a fast-paced year. I blinked and it was April. That whole, "The older you get, the faster it goes," thing is kinda ringing true with me these days. I don't feel old, I just am noticing that the summers seem a bit shorter.

Keep checking back here. I'm gonna do a few shows in the near future. Probably out here in LA. If you're in the area, stop on in and get yer drink on!

Hey Peeps!!!

Hope all of you are enjoying the year so far! I don't
know about you guys, but I'm ready for Spring! Just wanted to let all of you
know what's going on in the World of Whitton. Well, I am currently working
on my second record. I'm shooting for more of an acoustic approach this
time. I want to show some of my other musical influences. So, when you guys
get yer asses to the shows, you're going to hear the new stuff mixed with
some new spins on the old stuff. As a matter of fact, I'm mixing a live CD
of my one man show, "And... Scene". It will be available at the next show.

Just wanted to keep you all updated on what's happenIN' in my life.


This past week I performed for the largest crowd of my career. I performed on the main stage at the Orange County Auto Show, which is one of the premier auto shows on the west coast. They hired Foghat to showcase their stage on Friday night and I opened the show. Foghat, if you don't know, was a huge band in the 70's and are probably best known for their hit song "Slow Ride"... which for some reason fits within the theme of the auto show. It was a huge stage with all the professionalism you'd see at any full blown show. Kinda funny, the 70's throwback sound engineers and roadies! So I guess retro IS in! Anyway... there was a huge audience with everyone from kids to X'Genners to auto geeks to grandparents, and they were all getting a taste of the Thriftstore Cowboy. I had a ton of new material and I sold a bunch of CD's and t-shirts and other shwag. The organizers of the show even had two huge 8-foot high posters of my CD cover (which of course is a picture of yours truly) gracing the stage right behind me when I performed. It was a great show!

Which brings me to the real issue...The HOTEL CAFE this Saturday at 8:00pm. The Hotel Cafe has become one of Hollywood's premier music venues for breakout artists. It took me a while, but I finally got a gig there. They've doubled the size of the place (for those of you who had been there when it was a tiny space) and it's really tough to get a show there. So if ever you wanted to support some Country-Soul music, this would be the time. The more support I get the better the chance they'll have me come back.

So come on... tell your friends... pay the low, low admission of 7 bucks and come see me and a ton of new material. You will not be disappointed!!!
